East Quoddy Head
Campobello Island sits at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy in southernmost New Brunswick, just over the International Bridge from Maine. A century ago this island was the summer haunt of many rich and famous families, including that of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who would one day become the president of the United States.
The island is rural in character, uncrowded and very scenic. It can only be reached by one bridge, from Lubec, Maine, or by a seasonal ferry from the New Brunswick mainland, via Deer Island.
The same things that once drew some of the most wealthy people in North America, now lure tens of thousands of tourists of average means. It is an ideal destination for those who enjoy outdoor activities amist scenic splendor. The history buff will also find much of interest here, including old mansions and even older lighthouses.

This photo was taken in my parents' backyard in Burton, New Brunswick, Canada. It was getting late (6:30 pm), and I was shooting handheld, so I used a high ISO to ensure a good capture. I'm pleased with the results, in spite of the small amount of noise.
This photo was captured with a Nikon D300 (1/25s @ f/5.6, ISO 800, FL 200.0 mm).

Moncton, Petitcodiac River #2
The Petitcodiac River in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada has the nickname "chocolate river" because of its colour. The water level depends on the tide athough its estuary mouth in the Bay of Fundy is more than 30 kilometers away.

coyote
Saturday, March 01, 2008
The coyote (Canis latrans, meaning "barking dog" ) is a canine, or a relative of the domestic dog and wolf. Coyotes are native to North America and even parts of Central America. Rarely coyotes will creates packs like their wolf relatives, but for the most part, coyotes travel alone. Coyotes live an average of about 6 years. The word "coyote" was borrowed from Mexican Spanish, which itself borrowed the term from the Aztec word cóyotl which may have meant "singing dog". Coyotes are essentially nocturnal, but they will occasionally hunt during the day. Their behavior can vary widely depending on where they live, but in general they live and hunt singly or in monogamous pairs in search of small mammals including rabbits, mice, shrews, voles, and foxes. The coyote is an omnivore and adapts its diet to the available food sources including fruits, grasses, and vegetables along with small mammals. Coyotes mate for life. They breed around the month of February and four to six pups are born in late April or early May. Both parents help to feed the pups. At three weeks old the pups leave the den under close watch of their parents. Once the pups are eight to twelve weeks old they are taught to hunt. Families stay together through the summer but the young break apart to find their own territories by fall. They usually relocate within ten miles.

Worn down, looking for love, and tucked away in the western reaches of rural New brunswick not far from the Unisted States border the McAdam train station is a pleasant surprise. Let's hope the town's efforts to revitalize the station pan out.

Waking Up To Change
Waking Up To Change
One morning, back in the fall, I got up very early and went scouting for autumn leaves to photograph.
I froze my ass off, but found this tree on the edge of a field. I think the warm glow of the sun coming up and the fog from the river were captured well in this picture.
I'm still not sure if I really like this image though. It has been in my archive since the fall getting very little attention. I guess I'll let you decide...
